  2. Hi,
I am trying to make these concrete candles and the have come out really well but I am facing an issue that they are cracking on burning for a few hours due to heat. What would you suggest in this case?
    Thanks in advance✨

    1. Hi! I wish I had a great tip for you – this isn’t something I experienced and I wouldn’t consider myself an expert on the topic. I’d check the ratio of your concrete mix to be sure it’s strong enough!

  3. Hi Amanda,
Very beautiful result! I love your candles 🙂
Overall I adore soy candle with Wood Wicks. Concrete idea I like very much too. I tryed to do DIY concrete holders with soy wax and fragrance oil and I had a problem – wax or oil has seeped through the concrete and stains are visible on the outside.
Do you have any issues with this? Maybe you lubricate or spray something inside a concrete container before pouring wax? Because your candles look perfect 🙂

  4. Hi Amanda,

Love your candles! They are stunning. I attempted to make my own cement candle holders with soy wax and wood wicks and I found when I test one the cement got extremely hot. Do you know if there is a way to fix this or have you had this issue?

    Thanks.

    1. Hi! I didn’t have an issue with this, but I often found that the outside of candles can get hot. I’d recommend just putting it somewhere that little hands can’t reach it!

  5. Hey thank you so much for this it is very helpful.
I am seeing that concrete as holder works but I am concerned regarding will they work as a jar for candle?
I am thinking to sell these hope you could solve this query

  6. Your containers are so pretty! Do you have any issues with the concrete drying out and cracking from the heat since they aren’t sealed?

  7. Do you seal your concrete containers with any thing before you pour you wax in them

  8. The colors are fantastic. How on earth did you achieve that color blue? That’s my favorite color!

    1. Thanks, Lynn! I used a concrete pigment to dye the concrete to the color I wanted. 🙂

  9. Hi,

What a beautiful result! I love it. Very nice colors.

I myself have been making some concrete candles with help of empty cups. But I would like to try to make candles with a mold like the one you are using.. where did you get this mold?

    Regards,
    Stefanie

    1. Thanks, Stefanie! I purchased mine through Buddy Rhode’s Artisan Concrete but I’m not sure if they’re available through them anymore. I would check on Etsy!

  10. These are so pretty! I love the simplicity of them and the mix of colors. These would be great gifts for someone, everyone loves candles!

  11. I love these moulds. I made smaller ones from Buddy too, but I like these better! I will get some. So excited I read this post. Will share on my FB

  12. These are absolutely gorgeous! I need a few of those molds for sure. I can see using these little cement jars in so many ways.

    1. They’re so versatile! I love them so much!

  13. What an awesome project! And the candles look beautiful 😉 I have a candle addiction too…I spent last weekend melting some of my older ones down to combine them – they smell too great to just let all that wax go to waste!

    1. I need to do that with a few of mine, too!

  14. I’ve never seen a candle with a wood wick! I love how it looks. I bet essential oils would help make the candles smell a little stronger. I like the DoTerra brand — they’re legit AND they smell really strong! I’ve never made a candle with them but it only takes one drop on my hand and the whole room smells good.

    1. The wicks make a really fun crackling sound too, I love them! You can sometimes find wood wick candles at Hobby Lobby and Target – they’re so cool. I’ll definitely look into those essential oils, thanks for the recommendation!

  15. These are beautiful. Love the concrete holders and the wood wicks! I’ve never been able to get my DIY candles to smell that strong, but I bet you can experiment and find a way.

    1. Thanks, Holley! I’m definitely going to keep trying, it was so fun!

Is there a specific type of cement you use for these candles??

  16. The entire VintageStyleLiving.com team loved these! What a fun idea and they look fabulous!
