DIY Wood Planked Accent Wall
We recently added a DIY wood accent wall to our bedroom and I’m so excited to share the finished product with you today! Our DIY wood plank wall is probably one of my favorite things in the house, and it was so easy to put together. This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.
YOU GUYS!
I have such an exciting project to share with you today, and I’ve been absolutely itching to share it with you for what feels like years (even though it’s only been a few weeks). If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you’ve probably seen a few sneak peeks of it here and there…it looks a little something like this:
Look familiar? That’s the brand new accent wall in our master bedroom that we completed thanks to Home Depot. It is amazing and I just love it so much. The texture is beautiful, I love how rustic it is, and it’s unlike basically any other accent wall I’ve ever seen.
But, don’t take it from me. Let me show you the whole thing.
Are you obsessed yet? Because I’m obsessed.
DIY Wood Accent Wall Details
We used the Charred Wood Appearance Boards from Home Depot for this project and it was a breeze to install. You can see all of the details of how to do it over on Home Depot’s blog today – I promise you can do it! I did the entire thing by myself in just a day – and I also did a Facebook Live video while I was installing it, which can give you a good idea of what the process looks like. It’s simple, I swear.
One of my favorite things about this project is that it quite literally transformed the feel of this entire room. Corey and I have always struggled with our bedroom – it’s a room we ignored for a long time, and of course now that we’re moving we finally get it to a point where I love it.
Lesson learned – in the next house, we’ll be working on the master bedroom first, not last.
I’m loving how the wood ties in with the DIY geometric wood art on the wall, and it even picks up on the colors in the leather drawer pulls on the dresser. I love all of the knots and imperfections in the wood, and I’m so glad we went with this product over anything else. Corey and I have debated a lot of different options for this wall over the years (we’ve always known it was just begging to be an accent wall), and this is the absolute perfect choice for the space.
If only we had done it sooner so we could enjoy it a little longer.
Be sure to head over to the Home Depot blog today to see more details of how it’s done. And be sure to check back next week for the other project we did with them…the one you’ve all been waiting for…the fireplace! It’s gonna blow your dang mind.

STUNNING!!!!!!! x
The wall looks great, and I love that headboard! Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty
Wow, it looks great! You guys did a great job!
Thank you!
Ooooo Amanda, this accent wall is so pretty! I’ve always thought that wooden ones can be hard to get right, but you and Corey have nailed it! Well done on putting it together by yourself too.
I agree that all the knots and imperfections look beautiful, and you’ve got amazing tonal range going on too. And it certainly does look great with your wooden wall art 🙂
How long do you get to enjoy this wall before you move? I hope it’s a decent amount of time!
Thanks so much, Emma! We’ve got about a month left, but the wall has been up for about a month already – so we’ve definitely been enjoying it!
Two months is a good amount of time, I think 🙂 Will you be doing something similar in your new home?
I’d be itching to put wood on every wall I could haha!
