Welcome to Friday Finds, the post where I pretend like all the perusing I do at my favorite places online actually has a purpose. Today we’re bringing back an old favorite: Craigslist!
If you’re new around these parts then you won’t remember this, but a few years back I used to have this super fun feature each week where I would peruse Craigslist (in Austin, and in other cities based on reader requests) and pull the best of the best items that needed a little love. Then, I’d share ’em over here and talk about how they could be transformed. It was a fun way to see what was available and you guys seemed to really love the inspiration.
Well, it’s time to bring it back.
Today we’ll be browsing Austin’s Craigslist, but if you have a reader request feel free to shoot me an email at email@example.com and I’ll add you to the queue. We won’t be doing Craigslist every week, but it’ll be popping up from time to time!
Let’s do this thing.
Please note that items may or may not be available any longer as of this posting. This post is intended more for inspiration and ideas, and it’s entirely possible that items featured here have already been sold.
This piece is so unique and with a fresh cushion it could look great! I love the mid-century feel it has, and it’s definitely something you wouldn’t see anywhere else.
This is a little pricey for something that you’d probably want to add some paint to or change up somehow, but it’s got great lines and is apparently practically new. I’m always a fan of Craigslist pieces that are blank slates like this – you could do anything to this!
The photo isn’t super clear, but I love these stools! That’s a great price for two stools, and these look super high end. I don’t think I’d do anything to them, other than possibly swap out the fabric on the seat, depending on the condition it is in.
Thirty-five dollars for a bed, you guys. You can’t beat that! These types of beds are all over craigslist, and I think they have such a classic shape that would look amazing with a fresh coat of paint in a bright color. If we were in the market for a big kid bed for Jackson, this would be at the top of our list!
I am always a fan of a dresser with casters – always! I actually like the distressed look of this piece, but it would also be beautiful freshened up with some bright paint or even a stencil. Classic pieces like this are always the most fun to go crazy and do something completely unexpected with!
I love this chair, and it really doesn’t need anything other than some cleaning up! There’s a small tear in the caning near the top, but with a throw blanket or pillow tossed on it, you’d never know the difference. This would be a great way to bring some texture or character into a more modern room!

Sometimes it’s so fun to be reminded of all the great potential that’s just hanging out on Craigslist, waiting to be snatched up. We haven’t bought anything on Craigslist in a while…that might just have to change soon!
What was your last Craigslist purchase?
