17 Weeks

Family

How far along? 17 weeks – we are getting close to halfway!
Size of baby: Onion!
Maternity clothes? Stretchy shorts were my BFF this week during all of my work days prepping for school to start. I wore a few different maternity shirts this week and actually had a couple of parents at Meet the Teacher night notice that I’m pregnant. It’s so weird to have a noticeable bump now! Now that school is back in swing I anticipate that I’ll be in almost all maternity pants, though I still have a few pairs that’ll fit with the belly band!
Sleep: I’ve been exhausted this week – resuming our normal routine of waking up at 5:00 for work has not been a smooth transition! I’ve slept like a rock all week, though I’ve been having some crazy vivid dreams!
Movement: YES! I felt a tiny little flutter a couple of different times on Friday evening, and on Saturday I was laying on the couch and felt a little “thump”! I started paying close attention for the rest of the night and I’m positive I felt kicks several times…I think I was even able to feel it from the outside once or twice! Corey doesn’t think he was able to feel anything, but I bet he will soon! It’s been so fun – I’ve felt little kicks a few times a day since then, and I’m loving it – can’t wait until they get more consistent and stronger!
What I miss: I miss being able to be physically active all day (like working in my classroom for 9 hours straight) and not feeling like death afterwards! My back has been killing me all week from all of my bending over and moving stuff around!
Cravings/Food aversions: My aversions finally seem to be completely gone – I enjoyed several salads this week and had sides of veggies with dinner with no problems! I satisfied my pizza craving from last week, and I’ve been pretty good after that!
Other Symptoms: I was sore just about every night this week after working in my room (still so strange for me!) and I had a few instances of “pregnancy rage” or times where I just felt super grumpy for no logical reason.
What made me cry this week: We started a registry at Target this week and there were some newborn diapers in the little gift pack they gave us…not gonna lie – I teared up a little at how freaking tiny they are! So exciting!
Favorite moment this week: Feeling Monster kick! It is so fun to feel something and I’m incredibly excited that I’m feeling something already – I had expected it to be a while thanks to my anterior placenta. I’m so grateful the kicks have begun! 🙂

:::cry::: I LOVE that little THUMP! Best feeling ever, right? And NB dipes are the cutest! I showed B some that we got as samples and he said “well that’s about an hour’s worth, right?” HAHA. Oh we are going to be diaper experts soon!

How exciting! I know I’m pretty late in the game, but I love this week-by-week record keeping you’re doing. It’s so fun!

I visited a friend and her newborn last week and was amazed that I had forgotten how small everything was. The tiny diapers are not enough to cover my hand! Have fun collecting all the goodies.
