INDOOR PLANT TRELLIS
Indoor Plant Support
Indoor vining plants need support to help them grow. It can be expensive to purchase a plant trellis, but making one is super simple! Read on to learn how.
Materials Needed
– (2) 2×3 select pine boards, cut to your desired length – (1) 8′ wood closet pole – Drill/driver – 2.5″ screws – Stain in your desired color (I used Dark Walnut by Varathane)
Determining Size
For most smaller vining plants, a 4' or 6' trellis is great. For this trellis, I used 8' boards, as the plant here can grow up to 12' tall over time.
Cutting Rungs
I cut the rungs for the trellis ladder to the following lengths: – 18″ – 17″ – 16″ – 15″ – 14″
Spacing
The first rung is installed 18" from the bottom of the side supports, and every other rung is spaced 17". For a shorter trellis, 12" spacing between rungs is ideal.
