HOW TO
PAINT TILE
BEFORE
AFTER
Can you paint tile?
Yes! With proper preparation and the right paint, you can turn your outdated and ugly tile into beautiful flooring that will last you for years. Read on to learn how.

As with most DIY projects, you'll want to start by prepping your workspace. Thoroughly clean the floor, remove any caulk, and use a specialized cleaner to scrub the floor completely clean.

Start by cutting in around the edges of the room, then use a 3/8" nap roller to roll the base coat on the floor. Be careful not to step on the flooring for at least six hours prior to adding a second coat or a top coat!

This is the part where things get fun! You can tape off a pattern to paint (which is what I did), or you can use a stencil or even freehand a design. You can, of course, also leave your tile a plain color. The sky's the limit!
Add a Pattern (Optional)

After following the directions for dry time, you're ready to add a top coat. This is what really seals things in and makes the floor incredibly durable, so don't skip it! Head to the full post for more details on this and all of the other steps!
Top Coat the Floors
