HOW TO HANG pegboard

A pegboard is a great way to add some organization to your garage or workshop! Here's a quick tutorial for how it's done.

1

Cut pegboard to size using a circular saw. Cut furring strips for support behind pegboard.

What's a furring strip?

A furring strip is just a narrow piece of wood that’s attached to a wall to help create a level plane.  In this case, furring strips are used to create some dead space between the pegboard and the wall so the pegs or hooks can fit.

2

Hang furring strips along top and bottom of pegboard. For wider pegboards, you may also want vertical supports.

3

Next, you can attach your pegboard directly to the furring strips, using the holes in the board.

Finally, you're ready to add pegboard accessories and fill it up!

Larger pegboards can hold heavier things, like gardening tools and more!
