start with a blank slate
Some pieces have to go in certain places, due to plugs or spacing. Start with those!
place large items first
Try to have items at a variety of heights throughout the display, not all at one level.

Also, consider how "heavy" or large items are. Don't place all the heavy things on one side or shelf!

Try to repeat colors throughout the display in a variety of spots, rather than clumped together.
