How to Paint a Tub + Shower Surround

Have a bathtub or shower you hate? You can paint it using an epoxy paint kit! Swipe up to see the kit, and read on for more details.

Start by removing all of the caulk around the tub, then thoroughly cleaning and lightly sanding the tub and surround.

clean and prep

Mix the epoxy activator in with the paint. Stir thoroughly for at least 3 minutes - any less, and it may be drippy!

Use a foam roller to paint the entire tub and surround. Be sure to cover up anything you don't want to paint!

paint the tub/tile

Follow the directions for dry time, then re-caulk the areas around the bathtub.

What does this work on? 

This product works on porcelain, fiberglass, ceramic, acrylic, cast iron, and steel.

How long does it last?

A long time. This epoxy finish is extremely durable and should last for years and years to come. 

Does it smell bad?

Yes! Leave windows open and, if you can, plan on leaving the house after painting while it dries. 

How do you clean it?

 You can clean with anything you would feel comfortable cleaning porcelain tile with, and it should hold up perfectly fine.
