2024 Gift Guide: Gifts For Your Parents
Looking for a gift for your hard-to-buy for parents or grandparents? Look no further! I’ve got a list of 30+ great gift ideas for basically any adult in your life – but particularly your parents!
I don’t know about you, but I find other adults so hard to buy for. Especially my parents! As we get older we tend to want less in general, and the things we do want, we’ll just buy on our own. So, it can be really tricky to know what to get them if they don’t outright tell you. And they never outright tell you, am I right?!
Today, I’ve got a big ol’ list of more than thirty really great ideas to gift the other adults in your life. We’ve got a variety of things here that are sure to please even the pickiest of gift recipients. I can almost guarantee you’ll find something here that’ll work!
Gift Ideas for Your Parents or Grandparents
1. Travel Steamer
My parents are traveling more and more lately, and my mom in particular is obsessed with making sure her clothes are always looking neat and unwrinkled. A travel steamer is so handy to have around for anyone but I know she in particular would love it.
2. Trunk Organizer
I have one of these in my car and it’s so dang convenient! It makes it easier to find anything you’ve got floating around your trunk, and it can be really helpful with carrying groceries in, too!
3. NodPod Sleep Mask
We all know it just seems to get harder and harder to get a good night’s sleep. This weighted sleep mask is pure magic – I’m obsessed with mine and I don’t even typically like sleep masks!
4. Electric Heating Pad
This small heating pad is perfect for aching muscles, and it can be placed exactly where you need it to be. Plus, if the giftee is always cold (like my dad) it can be used as a foot warmer or a hand warmer!
5. Electric Wine Bottle Opener
I think that the best type of gift for hard-to-buy-for people is something they’d never think to buy themselves. This electric wine bottle opener fits perfectly in that category! It’s a little luxury and they’ll think of you every time they use it.
6. Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker Lanterns
These outdoor bluetooth speaker lanterns are perfect for the parents who love to host and have a great outdoor space! They look great and will add a ton of ambiance to their patio!
7. Shiatsu Foot Massager
Another gift that falls into the category of “little luxuries they’ll never buy themselves”. I mean, who DOESN’T want a foot massager?!
8. Digital Picture Frame
If your parents don’t already have one of these, it’s honestly a must. My parents got one a few years back and they absolutely love when we add photos to it (we can do it from our phones!). I got myself one, too, and it’s one of my favorite things I own!
9. Window Bird Feeder
I got one of these for my dad for Christmas last year, and it was a huge hit! They have it on their kitchen window and can get a close-up look at the birds while they’re doing dishes! It’s perfect for the bird-loving dad (which, whose dad doesn’t love birds? It’s such a thing!).
10. Heated Camping Chair
If they’re always coming to your kids’ outdoor sports games, or if they’re big on camping, they’ll be so grateful to have this little heated chair! I know my dad would be obsessed!
11. Battery Daddy
I think every household needs one of these – it’s one of those little gadgets you’d never think to buy but it makes life SO MUCH easier. Bonus points if you go ahead and fill it with a variety of batteries for them!
12. Dartboard Set
The perfect gift for their back patio (or basement, if they have one) – it’s something the whole family can get into, and it’s a unique gift that I can promise all of our dads would quickly become addicted to.
13. Ice Cream Maker
So they can treat themselves to a fun little homemade dessert! They’ll think of you every time they make their own delicious ice cream, and it’s a fun activity they can do together.
14. Driveway Pickleball Set
If your parents have the space in their driveway, this set would be fun for the entire family! Pickleball is all the rage right now, and they’ll love getting to play whenever they want.
15. Tabletop Fire Pit
Perfect for gathering at the patio table, roasting a marshmallow, and making things feel a little cozy. This tabletop fire pit is great if they don’t have room for something larger, and they’ll use it all the time!
16. Bakeware Set
My mom always gets so excited when we give her updated versions of things she’s had in her kitchen forever. We rarely replace these sorts of kitchen essentials, and a brand new set will feel like such a luxury!
17. Bamboo Board with Lid
I’ve actually got this in my cart for myself right now! Perfect for the parents who are always hanging out with their friends and bringing snacks along. Personally, I’ll be using this every Thanksgiving when I bring a charcuterie board to my sister’s house!
18. Magnetic Measuring Cups & Spoons
Again – replacing some of those kitchen basics with an upgraded version is always a hit! These magnetic nesting measuring spoons and cups are so great, and they’ll never lose one again.
19. Ceramic Mixing & Serving Bowls
A classic set of high-quality mixing bowls is always a good gift. Always! I love a set of nesting bowls, and these are so beautiful. I love that they double as serving bowls!
20. Audible Gift Membership
If your parents love to read, an Audible gift membership or a Kindle Unlimited membership is such an easy and great gift! It’s one of those gifts that keeps on giving, since they can get new books every month – my favorite kind of gift!
21. Personalized Plush Robe
I think a super cozy, plush robe is a great gift for anyone at any time. Even better if it’s personalized, to make it feel super special! This one is gorgeous and so high-quality – and won’t they look so cute in a matching set of robes?!
22. Barefoot Dreams Blanket
Your parents probably won’t splurge on a super fancy throw blanket for themselves, but I can promise you they’ll love to have one! These are the best of the best, and it will last them forever.
23. New York Times Explorer Coffee Table Book
Coffee table books are a classic gift for anyone, and I love the idea of gifting some travel-related ones to the parents! My parents love a road trip and exploring new places, and this is a great way to give them some inspiration!
24. A Beautiful Picture Frame
And, of course, a classic that never goes out of style: a pretty picture frame with a family photo in it. You can never go wrong here!
Other Gift Ideas for Parents and Grandparents
When I asked for your suggestions on Instagram, a lot of your favorite gift ideas weren’t necessarily something you can easily buy at the store. So, here are a few other, more unique, gift ideas for your parents and grandparents.
- A Chatbooks subscription. We gifted this to both my mom and mother-in-law last Mother’s Day and they’re both constantly raving about it. I put together a little book for them each month, and they always get so excited when they arrive!
- A family calendar. I do this every year for both sides of the family, and it’s always a huge hit. It’s really easy to personalize a calendar with photos from your year, and they’ll love having another way to display photos of their family!
- A family date. Quality time is always the best gift, if you ask me. Plan an outing with the whole family focused on something your parents love. On Christmas morning, they can open up an envelope with the itinerary or a set of gift cards to use for the day!
- Family photos. Go ahead and book the appointment with a photographer and give the gift of a family photo shoot to capture some memories they’ll cherish forever.
- Take care of something for them. Do they have a bedroom they want to repaint? A bathroom that needs some fresh tile? Giving them the gift of your help and your time without them asking will make them feel so loved and seen!
- Something (anything) sentimental! Think things like: a recipe book filled with all of your secret family recipes, and a cutting board engraved with a special recipe, a photo album, or tickets to go see a favorite band together!
