The Best Spice Drawer Organizer Options
Our spice drawer has been a mess and I finally whipped it into shape. See our super simple (and affordable) spice drawer organizer, along with tons of tips on how to organizer your spices.

A few years ago, in our last house, I built a DIY spice drawer organizer that I loved deeply. It was a really great setup, and it worked well for us for a long time. But, when it came time to (finally) get the spices organized in this house, I wondered if there was a simpler solution. I love a DIY drawer organizer, but I know it’s not practical for everyone, so I wanted to explore a ready-made option this time around.
And, well, it sure was easy! I found a ton of really great spice drawer organizer options on Amazon, and the one I found cost me about $20 total. It’s hard to beat that with a DIY project – especially when you factor in how much time I saved with this method!
So today, I’m sharing our newly organized spice drawer, along with some great spice drawer organizer options in case you’re also looking to get your under control.
Our New Spice Drawer Organizer System

The tiered system that I used for my DIY organizer in our last house worked really well – so I knew I wanted to repeat something similar here. We have a giant drawer where we keep all of our spices, and despite trying to organize them a few times they were always just flopping around.
I found these simple acrylic spice drawer organizer trays and I knew they were exactly what I wanted. I ordered 1 four-pack and one 8-pack of the small ones to get my giant spice drawer organized. Honestly, I didn’t even see the larger size when I was ordering, or I probably would have gone with those. Just measure your spice drawer to see what will fit best!
While I was at it, I also added this drawer liner. It looks really nice and is much easier to keep clean than the wood drawer bottom.
From there, I just placed my spices! I made the first row the spices we reach for all the time, and placed less-used spices further back. I left a little room on the end for the oddly-shaped and larger containers, and that was it! This was a 20-minute project that made my entire kitchen a little more functional.
Tips for Organizing Your Spices
If you’re struggling to get your spices under control, here are a few tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way:
- Swap to cohesive containers. I bought these matching spice jars a few years back, and I always decant new spices into them unless the jar happens to match. It makes it a lot easier to visually scan everything, and they all fit together a little nicer.
- Consider how you use them. I like to keep mine stored alphabetically (I’m not a monster!) but I do have certain spices I reach for a lot more often than others. So, I pulled those out and stored them on the front row so they’re easier to find.
- Add matching labels. If you do swap to cohesive containers, a lot of them come with labels that match. It looks really nice and, again, makes scanning for what you need a lot easier!
- Measure for a perfect fit. Whether you’re organizing in a cabinet or in a drawer, be sure to measure your space so you can really maximize it. I tend to just order without thinking, but I always regret it!
- Cabinet spice racks are a great solution too. If you don’t have a good drawer for your spices but still want to save counter space, adding one to your cabinet can work just as well. I’ll add a few options for that below!
