10 Things That Happened in February
Most years, February feels like the loooongest month of the year, despite being the shortest. This year, however, was absolutely bonkers in our house, and I feel like February just started. How is it already almost March?!
If you’ve followed along on Instagram, you’ll know that Corey and I were busy this month. It felt like it was absolutely nonstop, and I’m really looking forward to things hopefully calming down a bit as spring begins. I always get so excited for this time of year – the slowly warming weather, the foliage coming to life outside, and all the anticipation in the air for summer and pool time and all that fun stuff.
It’s a great time of year! But before we lean too hard into spring, we’ve got a month to wrap up. So, here are 10 things (both big and small) that happened in February.
10 Things That Happened In February
- Corey and I went to Disney World! We wanted to do something really intentional to celebrate our anniversary (which we usually kind of gloss over), so we planned a 4-day no-kids trip to Disney and it was maybe the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. We ate so much delicious food, hugged a ton of characters, rode all of our favorite rides, and didn’t worry about keeping any kids happy the whole time. It was truly magical and I think adults-only trips are definitely going to need to be a regular thing for us.
- We also went to Mexico! We didn’t plan for both trips to happen in the same month, but they just did. It was a lot to travel that much without the kids back to back (especially when everyone but Corey ended up getting the flu during it), but it was so, so fun! We got to stay at the fanciest resort I’ve ever seen in my life, sleep in late, get massages, and just relax for three days straight. We had a wonderful time but I can confidently say it’s gonna be a little bit before I’m ready to travel again!
- I hosted a Favorite Things party for a few neighborhood friends. Some of the moms in our neighborhood have started a tradition of getting together every few months for a little party (we started with gingerbread houses in December, then did favorite things), and it is so fun and cup-filling. Most of the women hadn’t ever done a favorite things party before, so it was a blast! If you’re wondering, this was the favorite thing that I shared!
- I built a side table out of a concrete form and I’m so proud of how it turned out! It was a really fun project and it felt so good to get out in the garage and build something. I’m really looking forward to lots more projects this spring, after mostly taking it easy on house projects all winter!
- I kept making good progress on my goal to read 10 books this year! I added 9 more books to the “finished” pile. This one was obviously my favorite, but I also really adored this one. You can see all of the books I’ve read so far this year right here!
- Corey and I fell into a bit of a television rut after finishing Fargo – what should we watch? We’ve been bouncing around from show to show and haven’t really found anything that catches our attention yet. We did watch Queenpins on one of our plane rides, and it was so cute!
- Did I mention we all got sick?! Jackson was the first one to get hit by the flu, just a few days before Corey and I left for Mexico. Grant came next (while we were gone), and then I ended up also coming down with it while we were on our trip. It knocked me out hard and I ended up spending the better part of a week in bed after our Mexico trip. I feel like we’re all emerging from a bit of a fog after the chaos of everyone being sick for half the month!
- We hosted our annual Super Bowl party and it was probably the most chill one we’ve had..maybe ever. It was right in-between our two trips so we just had my best friend and her family over, we snacked, and we just enjoyed each others’ company. We did however still make our traditional nacho bar, because it’s not the Super Bowl without a big ol’ plate of nachos.
- I launched a travel agent business! I’ve been contemplating becoming a vacation planner (specifically focused on Disney World & Disneyland) since we went in September, and this month I finally took the leap and did it. I’ve booked several vacations for y’all already and I can’t even tell you how much joy it has brought me! Getting to talk with my internet friends about my favorite place in the world and help you plan your vacations has been such a fun little side pursuit, and I’m so happy I did it. If you want to chat about a trip, just fill out this form and I can help you, too!
- And finally, we survived. I don’t know about you, but when we go through these really busy months sometimes just making it through feels like an accomplishment worth mentioning. Many days Corey and I felt like we were barely keeping our heads above water, but we got the kids to school every day, we had family time in the evenings, we got all of our work done, and everyone went to bed with full bellies. I think that alone deserves a celebration, don’t you?!
Top 10 Finds This Month
- I added these floating shelves in our room and I love them so much! They add so much to the desk area and have really elevated this corner of the room.
- Grabbed these sandals for our Mexico trip and I can already tell you they’re going to be a must-have for me in the warm months. They’re so comfy and I’m embracing the super chunky look – it’s really grown on me!
- Wore this cardigan more than almost anything else in my closet and added a second color when it was on sale. Safe to say I’m addicted.
- Raved to y’all about my favorite face wash on Instagram and heard from tons of you who’ve tried it and also love it. It’s under $10 and totally changed my skin. I’ll never use anything else, and I’m going to try their shampoo when the one I have runs out!
- Discovered my new favorite scent for my countertop cleaner. It smells exactly like my favorite resort in Disney World and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me a tad emotional while I was cleaning my kitchen the other night.
- Became obsessed with this jumpsuit and I definitely think I’ll be ordering it in another color. Feels like pajamas, perfect for spring, and looks so cute.
- After about a year of using a cheaper face tanner, I finally switched back to this one and oh man I’m glad I did. It’s so easy to apply, it works so well, and it’s worth every cent.
- Needed some cute pens for our new desk and I grabbed this pack with motivational sayings on them. They make me smile every time I use them!
- I also got this pen holder, and it looks so cute on our desk. Still need to add some highlighters and other things to help fill it up, but I love it!
- And finally, had so many of you ask me about my favorite book light this month. This is it! Nothing fancy, but it’s not too bright and it works great for late night reading sessions.
I would love to see a post with EVERYONE’S favorite things and/or how the party worked! How fun!
