10 Things That Happened in March
It’s spring! It’s spring! Y’all, I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am that the weather is finally warming up, the flowers are blooming, and spring has arrived. Our March was full of fun, soaking up the warm weather any time we could, and trying to chase all of those happy spring feelings. I don’t know about you, but there’s just something about this time of year that really brings out a lot of warm fuzzies for me.
At the end of every month I like to take a minute to recap a few highlights, share some favorites, and just generally celebrate the passing of another month. So, let’s chat about a few things that happened in March.
10 Things That Happened in March
- The kids had spring break and it was delightful. It went by really quickly, but it was so relaxing and enjoyable. We visited a local cavern, the kids spent a night with my parents, and we just generally soaked up the together time.
- Corey and I built two new LEGO sets. We’ve gotten really into building big LEGO sets together, and we had the Disney castle sitting around waiting for us for a while. We knocked it out this month – it took us a while but it was so fun. Corey also grabbed the brand new Snow White set and it was adorable. We’ve learned that this is such a perfect at-home date night for us. We pull up a movie to watch, settle in, and chat while we build. Highly recommend!
- I added a gallery wall to our entry stairway and it is bringing us so much joy. I’ve been on a mission lately to display more family photos in our house, and I love that this will be something I can swap out as often as I like.
- We’ve been having monthly family movie nights with my parents to prep them for our Disney World trip later this year. This month, we introduced them to Princess & the Frog, complete with gumbo and homemade Mickey-shaped beignets. I used this recipe and I’m already dying to make some more.
- We soaked up a ton of family time this month! We had game nights, baked together, had movie nights, a school dance, spring break fun, and crafted together. We don’t always do a great job of soaking up the family time, but in March, we definitely did.
- Marathon training started! I’ll be running my third marathon in May, and I’m equal parts excited and nervous. I’m back to looooonnggggg runs every week, and I always treat myself afterwards with a Jersey Mike’s sandwich. It makes it a little less painful and gives me something to look forward to.
- We added a pergola to the backyard. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a looooong time, and it feels so good to finally have it done! I’ll be sharing all of the details on the blog in a few weeks, but I wanted to make sure we live with it for a little while before sharing my official opinions. Spoiler alert? So far, we adore it.
- I officially hit my first milestone in my goal to read 100 books this year – I hit 25 books in the first quarter! I’m on track, and it feels goooood. I’m currently working through re-reading this series, but I also really loved this on audiobook. See all of my books so far right here.
- Corey and I watched both Will Trent and The Gentlemen this month and loved both shows! Of course, the hardest part about finishing a show is deciding what the heck to start next. The Gentlemen got us wanting to binge all of Guy Ritchie’s movies, so that may be what’s next on our agenda!
- We saw Wicked! Corey and I scored a great deal on tickets to go see Wicked as part of the Broadway in Austin series, and it lived up to every single ounce of the hype. It was such a fun date night, and we always absolutely adore getting to go take in a live show together!
Top 10 Finds This Month
- My goal is to get a puzzle completed and sealed for each season so I can display them on our picture ledge. I picked up this one for the spring, and I love it so much! It’s full of color and life and makes me smile every day.
- I’ve been looking for a Vitamin C serum that I use on my sensitive skin for years now and I finally found it! This Vanicream brand Vitamin C serum is affordable, works great, and doesn’t irritate my face at all.
- Speaking of Vanicream, I decided to give their shampoo and conditioner a try after many of you raved about it. I’ve only used it twice so far, but I’m liking it! My hair has been giving me some trouble lately, so I’m interested to see if a super simple formula like this is good for me.
- I’ve been on the hunt for a new go-to pair of jean shorts, as mine are getting really old. I ordered a few pairs from Amazon to try on, and these were the winner. It hasn’t really been warm enough to wear them yet, but I’m counting down the minutes.
- I’m officially fed up with trying to use real plants on my front porch, so I ordered some faux ferns to have out there for the spring and summer. These are so pretty, look super realistic, and have stayed in place through some crazy windy days. I can definitely say I recommend them!
- After watching about a zillion people try these heatless curlers all over the internet, my curiosity got the best of me and I ordered some. They created some gorgeous curls, but they didn’t last as long as I would have liked. Going to give it another go, probably with some hairspray or something next time to see if I can make them stick around better!
- Ordered a new self-tanner to try out and so far this one is working well. It’s a tad lighter than I’d like, but the plus side is that it’s super forgiving. I’m not the best at applying self-tanner but this one leaves me streak-free every single time.
- I was on the hunt for some sweaters that felt like spring but would keep me warm when it’s still too cold for short sleeves. This one fits the bill perfectly!
- Rediscovered my love of monkey hooks this month when I was hanging our gallery wall. They make hanging things so easy.
- Grabbed this toothpaste dispenser for the kids bathroom after the last one finally bit the dust, and I’m loving it. It cuts down on a lot of chaos in their bathroom, which I’m always grateful for.
