DIY Enchanted Witch’s Broom
Friends, I’m so excited to share this little Halloween DIY project with you. Why? Because I’ve waited over a year to make this happen. Last Halloween, I felt like I was constantly seeing these “enchanted” witch’s brooms all over the place. I lusted after the one on Amazon, but didn’t want to spend the money on it. I saw a few people make their own versions, adorably nicknamed “broombas” (you’ll see why in a minute), but I never made the time to make it happen.
When I tell you I’ve been thinking about this silly little enchanted witch’s broom project for an entire year straight, I’m not exaggerating. Sometimes my brain just latches on and won’t let go, and this was definitely one of those times.
But, I mean, all that obsessing was well worth it.
DIY Enchanted Witch Broom (AKA Broomba!)
Get it? Broomba? Roomba? We don’t even own a Roomba brand robot vacuum, but it’s too catchy not to use.
Basically, all you’re seeing here is a cute little witch broom attached to the top of our robot vacuum! When it’s not running, it looks like a cute Halloween decoration over in the corner. But when it is running? Well, if you ask my kids it’s the most magical and creepy Halloween decoration around!
We’ve had so much fun with this silly little thing since I put it together, and I’m so glad I made it happen. It was really quick and easy to do, and it should be simple enough to store for next year too!
You’ll Need…
Step One: Prep Your Tiki Torch
I started my project off with a little Tiki Torch – they’re only about $7 and they’re the perfect size for this. Of course, if you have a good tree in your backyard to cut from, you could just cut down a branch! Ours are all too small to get a really good branch for this sort of thing, so I felt like this was easier.
I grabbed a darker colored torch, but if you get a light one you might want to spray paint it so it looks a little more realistic!
Take out the torch part of your Tiki Torch so you’re left with just the shell of it.
Step Two: Attach the Grass Skirt
Now, grab your grass skirt and use hot glue to attach it to the cone-shaped part of the torch. Depending on the size of your skirt, you’ll probably need to cut it down a little so it’s shorter. I had a pack of three skirts, and I attached one near the top of the torch part, then flipped it upside down. Then, I attached a second skirt right below it to create some fullness. I didn’t need the third skirt at all!
If you only have one skirt, you could take the cuttings and tie them around the base of the tiki torch, then add hot glue to hold it all in place.
After it was all attached, I tied a little ribbon near the top for a little extra detail (and to help hide the band of the skirt near the top!).
Step Three: Attach to Your Robot Vacuum
Now, it’s time to attach it to your robot vacuum!
Of course, if you want to skip this part, you could just use the broom as-is for a cute Halloween decoration. It would look really fun hanging from a hook on the wall!
But, I NEEDED mine to move about my house because I knew it would bring me so much joy (spoiler: it does). So here’s how I attached it:
- I grabbed a plastic lid from the pantry that was sized about right to fit over the opening in the tiki torch.
- Then, I attached the lid to the torch using hot glue. This just gives a really good, solid surface to attach to your vacuum.
- I attached some command strips to the lid, then stuck that on the vacuum! I ended up needing to add a little bit of hot glue to the strips on the lid to help it stay in place a little better. But once that dried, it felt really solid.
And that’s it! This little broom makes me giggle with happiness every time I see it. And, I’m honestly pleasantly surprised at how good it looks considering it’s just a tiki torch and some cheap grass skirts!
She might need to stay out year-round, honestly.
If these last few weeks of playing around with creating more Halloween decor for my home, I’ve really fallen even more in love with this season and Halloween in general. It’s been so fun to really throw myself into getting creative for this holiday, and I love adding to my collection of decor year after year.

This might be a silly question, but doesn’t your robot go under beds, chairs, couches, etc? I keep seeing these cute brooms and ghosts add-on’s, but can’t figure out how it doesn’t affect the vacuum…? Thanks!
