House Tour, Part 2
Alright, it’s time to finish up the house tour (see the first part here)!
We’ll start with the guest bedroom/office.
This room probably my least favorite room in the house. It has a lot of elements that I love (like our kickass chair!) but it’s just a generally neglected room that doesn’t have a ton of life. I’m not a big fan of white walls, so that probably has a lot to do with it.
Here’s the view of the room from the hallway:
See all the boring white? And the really ugly shade? Yeah, this room is in pretty sad shape.
Once you enter the room, you can see the big bookcase, and the desk (which is one of my favorite pieces of furniture that we own!)
The desk was a $50 Craigslist find. All we had to do was update the knobs (they were gold and ugly) and it was good to go! It was in great condition, and we are seriously in love with it.
On the other side of the room, you have the smaller bookshelf and my record player that doesn’t actually work because we don’t have a needle for it.
Another one of the reasons that this room drives me crazy is that the bed is NEVER made.
Weird, I know, since we don’t actually USE it.
Well, our dogs seem to think the guest bed is a playground built just for them. We make the bed, they destroy it. We make it again, they destroy it again. Proof? This was the bed about 15 minutes after I finished taking photos in there:
It’s hopeless, I tell you.
Our bedroom, however, is probably my favorite place in the house. The color in this room isn’t exactly the color we wanted – we were hoping for something a little more grayish blue and a little less pastel blue. But once we got it on we were much too lazy to fix it, so we live with it. I like it, but it’s a bit more baby boy-esque than I’d like for my master bedroom. Despite the color, I think our room is extremely serene and comfortable, and it makes me happy to be in there.
Here’s the view from the door (this room is off the kitchen which, by the way, I realize I haven’t shown you but I don’t think I’mgoing to because you’ve seen the only cute thing in that room – the table. Beyond that, it’s a boring, ugly kitchen):
And, just because I know I love to snoop at other people’s bedside tables, his:
and hers:
Here is the wall opposite the bed:
Yes, we have a standing fan in our room because we live in Texas and our air conditioner is from the 80’s. It gets HOT in here!
And, yes, that is a N64 sitting on our dresser. I still play Zelda. Frequently.
Three gold stars if you can find Cullen in this photo!
Do you see him?
Let’s look a little closer…
Oh there he is! This is probably his favorite spot in the whole house. For some reason he never scoots all the way under, unless he hears someone coming around the side of the bed…then you’ll see his little rear end scoot up underneath the bed as fast as he can!
And, just for fun, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite details in the room:
This set of canvases was a wedding gift from my sister! It wasn’t on our registry, but she knows me so well and knew that I would love these – and I do! The canvases currently hang above our bed, but they’re a little too small for the space, so we have plans to move them soon. Hopefully I’ll have an update for you on that later this week!
This little guy was a gift from Corey went he went to India a few years back. I love, love, love elephants so while he was there he found lots of cute little elephants to bring me home. I’m not usually a big trinket person, but my elephants are very special to me, so I made sure to find a spot for them! This one sits on Corey’s bedside table, and we have another one (my favorite one) on mine:
And that, my friends, is our home! It’s tiny and a bit cramped at times, but we love it and I think we’ll miss it when we leave.
I have lots more to share with you this week – it’s spring break for me, so I’m on a cleaning and organizing rampage right now! Also, Corey has a few posts up his sleeve for later this week, so you also have that to look forward to.
So, tell me, what’s your favorite spot in your house? And, bonus question, if you have any pets what are their favorite spots?
Hahaha! The elephants are awesome. Cubans have this weird belief that elephant figurines bring luck….but only if you face them with their butts facing the front door. The idea is that you’re bringing luck in and that it’s not leaving (which is why the elephants are facing inwards from the door). I have an aunt who collects elephants tho, so when you walk into her house, all you see is elephant asses everywhere. I’m kinda glad you don’t do that….but if you have a little one, maybe face it away from the front door? Hey, you never know. lol
Oh my goodness, that’s hilarious! I actually do have a tiny little elephant in our guest bedroom – maybe I’ll turn him around and see if anyone notices!
I’m in LOVE with your desk. So jealous that you got it for $50. Also, I love love love the yellow!!!!! We have very similar decorating styles, but you’re much better at it than I am. 🙂
I love your bedding in the master bedroom! Super cute — and I love the art on the wall, too!
I’m so jealous of the tv in your bedroom! We’re saving up for one now. I can’t wait until the day I can relax in bed and watch a movie!
Your bedroom looks so wonderful! You have great style. We have about zero personality in our bedroom, and at this point, I feel like we’ll just live with it like that until we move.
All of the elephants are adorable too!
I adore your comforters, both of them! And that record player is great.
I LOVE your desk chair. I’ve been wanting a colorful chair for so long and even picked one out from IKEA but the hubs vetoed it. Not cool.
