June Recap + Updates
Friends, we’re officially halfway through the year and HOLY MOLY, what a year it has been. We’ve spent about 90% of our year in a “will we or won’t we” limbo when it comes to moving, and I finally got to announce this week that we will be moving at the end of the summer. See the whole (messy, unedited) story right here, if you missed it!

It’s been a long and frustrating journey but I’m really excited to be back to a point where we can be looking at houses, making plans, and dreaming again. We’ve still got a couple of months before the actual move, so I’m doing my best to just enjoy the process and relax into our time at home before it isn’t home anymore.
A Few Highlights from June
- We had Jackson’s “Yes Day,” which is always a blast. We went bowling, played Putt Putt, ate delicious food, and did an at-home murder mystery game. It was a fantastic day!
- We visited the pool 100,000 times. Grant is getting really good at swimming (he loves these flippers and I swear they help him so much), and the pool bag is still my MVP of the entire summer.
- We’ve been playing a ton of Mario Kart World, and it’s truly my new favorite family tradition to snuggle up before bedtime for a quick round with the kids.
- We tie-dyed shirts, made lots of sweet treats, went for long walks to the creek, and built a giant fort in the living room.
- I’ve been struggling to really embrace summer as much as I’d like to, with all the stress of moving. But, I sure am trying and it’s getting a little easier every day.
June Favorite Things
- I ordered this crochet tank on a whim and it has ended up being one of my favorite new pieces of the summer. It’s so flattering, not too see-through (I just wear a bralette underneath), and it’s so comfortable on hot summer days. I got so many compliments when I wore it!
- I also ordered this midi skirt without thinking too much – I wanted a simple (long) black skirt to pair with graphic tees and sneakers, and this fit the bill perfectly. Can’t beat the price, either.
- I’ve been making my way through this book series and this book might have been my favorite! You can definitely read it without reading the others in the series, but I promise they’re good enough that you’ll want to.
- I always have a hair tie on my wrist because I have long hair and you never know when you’ll need one. I finally got tired of the ugly hair tie and went searching for something that looked like a bracelet. These are PERFECT. They hold my hair up great, haven’t stretched out, and look so cute on my wrist.
- I’m always looking for new pairs of sunglasses because I constantly lose/break/scratch them. These are my newest pair and they’re bringing my a lot of joy!
- Can I admit to you that I haven’t owned a single oven mitt for the last year or so? I have no idea what happened to ours (I’ve only had one for years, haha), but for a while now I’ve just been using a kitchen towel. I burned myself last week and finally broke down and bought these. They’re pretty and so nice and no more burns! What a revelation!
- My favorite self-tanner has to get a shout out every summer. It’s easy to apply and subtle-but-noticeable. The perfect combo for a self-tanner!
- I grabbed this game for the summer without knowing anything about it and it quickly became a family favorite! It’s really easy to learn and quick to play, which is our favorite kind of game. We’ve been very into card games lately, and this one is truly fantastic.
- I’ve been told dozens of times that I need to read this book and I finally got around to it. It was so good and so inspiring. I think it should be required reading for every American. Truly.
- Corey played this game with some friends recently and came home raving about how much he loved it. We spotted it at the airport on our way to Disneyland and the kids and I grabbed it for him. We all loved it! It’s another easy & quick card game, and we’ve been introducing it to everyone we can!
- I’m always on the lookout for comfortable and flattering dresses for summer that are casual and easy to throw on. Bonus points if they have pockets. This one fits the bill in every way and I’m seriously considering ordering another pattern or color!
- I finally hopped on the boxer shorts trend because I couldn’t resist these cute pink shorts. I’ve worn them a ton – around the house, out for errands, and even as a cover up with my bathing suit. I absolutely love them and I don’t know what took me so long to try it out!
