The 2025 Christmas Scavenger Hunt
It’s everyone’s favorite time of year – the 2025 Christmas scavenger hunt has arrived!

I have a lot of traditions that I really love for the holidays. We have our activity advent calendar, we make dozens of cookies every year, we watch a bajillion Christmas movies…it’s the best time of year! But, one that has become quite a staple for my little community here and on Instagram is the Christmas scavenger hunt.
I started sharing it a few years ago and it immediately became a classic. I hear from dozens of you every year who do it along with us, and it’s become such a special tradition. Today, the 2025 Christmas scavenger hunt is here and I’m really excited to be sharing it with you!
What is the Christmas Scavenger Hunt?
Every December 1st, I tuck a bunch of clues around our house to lead my kids to their toy advent calendar. (Usually, it’s LEGO). It’s a really fun way to kick off the Christmas season and we all look forward to it so much. It’s a really joyful way to dive into December!
I started sharing the scavenger hunt over here a while back, and I know it has become a tradition for many of your families as well. Not everyone does it for advent calendars. Some of you do bigger Christmas gifts, Christmas pajamas, or even your Elf on a Shelf!
Here are a few ideas for how you could use the 2025 Christmas Scavenger Hunt:
Ideas for the Treasure Hunt
- Tickets to go see a family movie
- Christmas pajamas
- A cute mug and a hot cocoa packet
- Christmas cookies
- A new Christmas book
- A Christmas t-shirt or sweater
- An ornament
- A nutcracker
- A coupon book (add things like “skip chores” or “go to bed 30 minutes late”)
- Your Elf’s first hiding spot!
You get the idea – the sky’s the limit here.
