I love mums for fall, but I can’t keep them alive for more than 2 weeks in the Texas heat! Thankfully, I’ve found some GORGEOUS faux mums that are perfect for my outdoor planters!
I love mums. They scream fall to me, and bring me so much joy all season long. Except, I can’t keep the real thing alive all season long. I can barely keep them alive for two weeks. In fact, if you look closely at the above photo you’ll see my gorgeous faux mums on the left, and on the right you can see the real mums that I killed practically within minutes of planting them!
Two years ago I decided to give up on even attempting real mums for my front porch, and I decided to switch to faux. I found these faux mums on Amazon and never looked back. They’re gorgeous, they stay perky and happy all fall long, and they’re really realistic! Plus, I’ve gotta be saving a ton of money by not buying new mums every few weeks when I kill mine. It’s a win-win!
Here’s a little close up of the flowers. They’re really pretty, and it comes with a ton of flowers – one order was enough for me to fill two planters! I’m ordering a second set (in yellow!) to add to my collection this year.
I’ll also note – they’ve been out in my front yard for two full fall seasons, and the color hasn’t faded at all! They haven’t had a ton of harsh afternoon light (they got mostly morning sun), but I’ve been super impressed with how they’ve held up!

Nice roundup — thanks for the picks. Quick question: did any of the faux mums stay weatherproof through heavy rain, or only sun exposure? Thinking of putting them on a covered porch but worried about occasional storms.
