One of the things we’re really wanting to purchase for the living room in our new home is a new, cozy chair (or possibly two). We got spoiled with our old IKEA sectional and all of the seating that it provided, and while we adore our new sofa, it definitely doesn’t have nearly as much space for guests as we’re used to!
Thankfully, the layout in the living room is definitely conducive to at least one chair (we’re still debating the second). And, since Corey’s been begging me for a recliner since basically the beginning of time, we figured this is the perfect opportunity to get a cozy and stylish recliner to add some extra seating to the living room.
I know that when most of us think of recliners we picture those giant overstuffed leather things from the ’90’s, but recliners have come a long way since then. They’re sleek, beautiful, and nowhere near the eyesore they used to be. Plus, let’s be real – we all love to kick back in a reclining chair and take a nap. There isn’t much in this world more relaxing than that.
So, since I’ve been doing so much research on which recliner we might want for our home, I figured I’d share what I’m finding (and maybe get your input while I’m at it?!). We still haven’t decided which one we’ll go for, but all of the recliners pictured below are on our short list, and it’s just a matter of narrowing it down.

What do you think? I’m drawn to the lighter colors (I love a good white chair!), but we don’t have a ton of color in our living room right now, so I’m not opposed to something a little more fun. Our sofa is gray, so we probably want to stay away from that…but I don’t know!
Can you tell I’m not a great decision maker?
Let me know which one is your favorite – and what color you would go for!
We still have quite a bit of furniture changes that we want to make in the living room – we have a few storage-type pieces that we’re wanting to build, and we need some side tables. I think a chair or two will go a long way to making the room feel a little bit more complete – we currently have the armchair that was in Jackson’s nursery in there, but it looks kind of weird sitting all by itself (which is why I’m leaning towards getting two chairs), and the room just feels incomplete.
But that’s half the fun of a new house, right? You get to solve all of the weird little issues one by one and watch things slowly come together. It’s so satisfying!
Or, maybe I’m just a big giant nerd.
That’s possible too.
