Christmas Around the House {2025}
I think this is my favorite post to sit down and write every year. It’s one of those blog posts that I don’t even know if anyone actually reads, but it brings me so much joy that I don’t care. I always take a second to comb back through Christmas home tour photos from past years and see how much things have changed – it’s so fun to reminisce! Something about the holidays really brings out my sappy, sentimental side!
It feels particularly special this year because it’s our first Christmas in our new home. I actually feel pretty confident saying it’s our first Christmas in our forever home. Anything can happen, of course, but this is 100% the house we envision growing old in, and it is so exciting to be celebrating Christmas here for the first time.

There are so many things in this house that we cannot wait to change – light figures to replace and doors to paint and floors to rip out and fully renovate. But, we’ve only been here for a little over three months so for now we’re embracing the still-very-70’s vibe. It’s cozy and nostalgic and, honestly, pretty perfect for the holidays.
I’ve already showed you the exterior of our home all dressed up for the holidays, so we’ll start our tour in the entry. Grab your favorite drink (I’ll be sipping on my favorite caffeine-filled-water because I had a tiny buddy sleeping in bed with me last night) and settle in for a walk around our home.
The Entry + Dining Room

It feels so great to have a formal dining room again for the first time since our very first house. It’s pretty sparse this year, but we’ve replaced the chandelier with this under-$50 stunner and we have a dining room table that makes my heart sing, so I’m not complaining. I added my favorite snowflake garland to the back wall to help things feel a little more festive, and I love the result.
I also grabbed a (real!) poinsettia from Trader Joe’s because they just scream “old school Christmas” to me, and that’s exactly the mood I’m channeling in this house.
The Living Room
We had lived here for just under a month when I first looked at Corey and said, “we don’t have a Christmas tree spot!” It was a funny realization because that’s something we’ve always talked about when we’re looking at homes, but we didn’t even consider it here. We were so blinded by love for this house that we didn’t care where we’d put the Christmas tree.
I won’t lie – I panicked about it for a few weeks. There really isn’t a great spot to place a Christmas tree anywhere in the living room! But, after playing around with putting it in a few different places we finally decided to try this spot right next to the couch. And, well, it’s perfect!

We have a floor plug under the living room rug, and the tree is truly the perfect size to tuck right in here. I don’t know if this will be the tree spot, but it works really well for this year!
I typically wrap ribbon around our Christmas tree (I’ve been doing it for over a decade!) but when I did it here it just… didn’t work. So, I pulled it all off and kept things simple. I stuffed the tree with all of our favorite ornaments (it has almost the same amount of ornaments I used to put on our 12′ tree!) and then added some of these burgundy ribbons. I wanted to add some vintage-style candles too, but ran out of steam. Maybe next year?
The mantel was a ton of fun to decorate, as it always is. I love a big statement-making garland, so I layered a couple of my favorite base garlands with a more elaborate garland from Michael’s (this one is similar). I’m in love with how it turned out and you’ll honestly probably see this exact setup for many years to come.

Having a green sofa with reddish-brown chairs in the living room really helps things feel even more festive! So. I leaned into that with some Christmas throw pillows. The result is a space that really feels so cozy and nostalgic and perfect for our family.
The Kitchen
Last year I feel like I finally nailed the decor in the kitchen at our last house. And then we moved. So, I had to start over with figuring out how to decorate the kitchen here (why is it so hard?!)
I added a few more snowflakes in the eat-in area, sprinkled some cute trees around, and put a ribbon on the lamp. Boom, done!

Oh, and I used a command hook to hang some art behind the stovetop. I think after the holidays I might hang a brass bar back there for copper pots? Still dreaming there.
The Movie Room + My Office
And finally, we’ve got the back half of the house. Things aren’t as decorated back here, but we did add a few small touches. Eventually, the movie room is going to have a full Disney theme because we’re grown ups and we can. But, for now, the tree mostly just has some leftover ornaments from elsewhere in the house and a handful of the Disney ornaments we’ve collected.
And, of course, colored lights. Because it’s the only room I’ll allow them.

I spent a little while adding some cheer to my office, too. Nothing big – just swapped a few things out on my shelves. A nutcracker here. A little wreath there. A Christmas tree made out of paperbacks. You know, the usual.
Oh, and a couple of paper chains. Because everyone is making them again this year and I couldn’t resist hopping on the bandwagon.

And that’s how things are looking in our home this holiday season. I can’t wait to watch how our decor in this home expands and evolves in future years (and decades!). And, of course, if you’re one of the handful of people who actually read this post – thank you for indulging me.
